Fishing this fall has been great. Reds have been prevalent, especially the smaller ones in the 12-16” range but there has also been some bigger fish. Snook fishing has been ok. As of this writing the water along the beaches is very clear and were still sight fishing snook on the beach. We’ve had a good run of mackerel and bonita which continues in about 18-24’ of water. Pompano and trout showed in good numbers a couple of months ago and will continue through the winter.

We’ve only had a couple of cold fronts this fall so far and the November weather had been just about perfect. The extreme early morning low tides we have in the fall/winter are here. Thanksgiving week has big lows in the am and moving into December the new moon on the 5th and the full on the21st will produce some of the lowest tides of the year especially if a cold comes through. These are tough tides to fish shoreline but can produce some good pompano and trout action. Also a good time to get out a learn the contours of the bottom which aren’t normally exposed.
This is also the time of year I like to adventure deep in to the backcountry where many of our fish go during the cooler weather. The cold weather also clears up the water in the back making for some good sight fishing.
