I've been real happy with my new Sony U digital underwater camera. I'm trying to get better pictures each time out, but it takes lots of practice for sure.

I can't wait to be in Naples and take pictures there! BUT! I don't want to lose an arm or leg to one of those toothy gators!! :P

Is your camera specially built for underwater use or have you bought a special housing for it? I have looked at camera housings in the past but they are very expensive costing as much or more as the camera itself.

Do you ever take pictures of fish when you are on a bridge? I have tried but I am not happy with the results when I use the standard lens with polarizing filter on my camera. Does one use a telephoto lens for that, would be interesting to know how the professionals get al these nice pictures.

Hi Marcel,

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... Id=5630891

I use this camera. Because it's waterproof to 5 feet, it's safe for me to carry it fishing. So far, I like it. Takes video too. But no audio. Taking good underwater shots takes practice though, because you can't see through a viewfinder and have to guess. $249 for no worries about dunking your camera....worth it.

Thanks, did not know that those things existed. I carry my digital SLR around in a waterproof bag. I feel confident enough to wade with the camera in the bag when it is closed and sealed.

Problem is that you have to close the bag everytime you wade, I once forget and you can imagine what happened. Went for a brief swim and so did the camera. I was lucky that the camera survived that mishap.

I still own a compact digital camera and for that thing I have bought a tranpsparent sealable waterproof bag. The bag has a glass window in it so you can take underwater pictures with it. Never used it, maybe I am going to take it with me to Naples and give it a dunk in the Gulf of Mexico.

Hi all,

I know is is no Everglades but I thought you might enjoy it never the less. I tied to get some video of salmon running up the river, but didn't get to lucky, maybe next week.

Thanks,
Adam

enter www.cyclopscam.com click the video page and download the Credit River (underwater) video (window media format is better quality then the divx). It's a little over 4 mins and about 15 megs. :D

Cyclops,
Cool video. Love the cam which would be great for filming hooked fish, schools of baitfish, etc. in warm Fla. waters.

Have you checked out the videos that Jeremy Cameron has on www.fliesandfins.com ? He's raising the bar with video of fly fishing trips and has a cool site.
