Hello,
I am Hans, a colleague fly fisherman of the “famous” Marcel Karssies from Holland.
It becomes autumn in Holland. The leaves already come down from the trees and the cross spider is in numerous numbers present.
The large hunt for the essox (Pike) with the streamer starts again.
Last Saturday Niels and I went to a stream in the neighbourhood of Enschede (Holland) to catch some Pike with the streamer. After two cast my streamer was pursued by two large eyes and suddenly the fish attacked the streamer. It was no Pike, but I caught a large Yellow Perch with beautiful red fins. The length of the bass Yellow Perch was 45 centimetres. For Dutch standards is that large. The largest bass Yellow Perch registered in the fishing magazine BEET is 49 centimetres. I was smiling from ear to ear with that fish.
Further that morning is was very very quiet at the stream. So we moved to another location. There by the first cast of Niels the streamer was attacked by a Pike…. But unfortunately he missed. On the way back I fished again on that spot and after some casts the streamer was taken by a pike. A Pike of 70 centimetres was the result.
Next weekend we give it another try to hunt the Essox in Holland. Perhaps the famous fly fisherman from Holland, Marcel, will join us.
Greetings Hans F.
