The early morning flyfishing session on the beach was dissapointing. We where to early for Snook fishing since it was still high tide and we could not spot the Snook. We decided to fish the open water. There was hardly any bait around. I got a few takes and managed to hook one skipjack.
During the coffeebreak on the pier I saw a few Snook hanging around the pilings. People where not catching fish when I was there.
During low tide I spotted several Snook on the beach. I still can manage to catch Snook in the real skinny water, I still just spook them. Maybe I will learn to catch them one of these days.
In evening before sunset I hit Naples pier with my spinning outfit and a couple of stinky shrimp. The dark side had gotten the better of me.
First I tried fishing a diamond jig to catch Ladyfish, Skipjacks, Jacks or whatever. I blanked using that method. Some people where catching fish next to me at the shallow section of the pier. Better put they where snagging mullet, I also saw them with one black drum.
After sunset I fished with shrimp. My first fish was a Striped Mojarra.
That was a good fish. The next eight fish where catfish. The Gulf was a little dirty that evening, maybe due to the rainshowers that afternoon.
Later in the evening around 9.30 p.m. I caught the icing on the cake, a small stingray came to the surface.
Then I had enough, I had caught a trash fish slam.
