Yesterday afternoon after Tarpon fishing in pond X we went for some beach fishing at Gordon pass. Michael made a hasty retreat to the beach after a rather large blacktip shark moved close to his wading position.

The beach.

It was quiet on the beach. It took some effort before I could land a couple of Ladyfish. Michael caught his first ever two Spanish Mackerel from the beach.

Before sunset we headed out to go Tarponfishing at pond X. As we strolled the beach we encountered several Snook in the surf and tried to get them to eat a fly. Most fish just spooked and ran like crazy too the deeper water. One bigger Snook however had interest in my EP pinfish fly. Four times he followed the fly but everytime at the last minute he refused to take the fly. I followed the fish and when the fly came across the Snook for the fifth time he engulfed it like there was no tomorrow.
The fish put on a very nice fight and jumped several times clear of the water. My day was made.

Finally a nice Beach Snook.

In the evening Michael, yours truly, Diamond Dave and Capt. Aaron from Everglades Angler fished pond X. Since the winds started and the temperature dropped action was on the decrease at pond X.
I was lucky enough to hook one smaller Tarpon that evening and I even managed to land the fish.

My second Tarpon ever.

This morning we started with the Tarponfishing. There where a few rolling fish but no fish came close to our casting location. I had one fish and pulled the fly right out of his mouth. My second chance came when a rather large fish intercepted the EP hot minnow quite quickly after it hit the water. I struck, felt the fish for a moment and then it was gone. I still have a lot to learn in Tarpon school.
