On Monday we were fortunate to not have any school so we decided to go fishing again, except this time James would not be on the boat it would be Austin Perlmutter. I had to mow the yard therefore we didnt even get out on the water until around 12:30, a pretty late start if you ask me, but at least we got out there though. We went and got our bait at the usual spot, execpt this time we didnt have the same cast net, and Austin got the wrong net so every single bait we caught got stuck in the mesh. There was bait in the net all day and couldnt get the rest out until we got back to the dock. We got our bait and headed to Rookery yet again. I took Austin the spot that James and I had fished the day before, and I was hoping that we might get some more Snook and Redfish. The first thing we caught when we got there was a Redfish which measured 22inches. We then went on the catch a couple Snook each, and Austin caught a HUGE Sail Cat. That was about the time that we knew we should leave and start heading home. On the way back my hat blew off so as we were driving around in circles i noticed that on a buoy line was a Triple Tail, after we got my hat we went ack and it was still there, I put a shiner on and casted. The bait landed lest than a foot away from the buoy in a matter of seconds i was hooked up. When we got it in the boat we measured it and ended up being just under the keeping size so we threw it back, we did get a couple nice pictures though. When we got back to his dock we still had a few shiners left over so we casted them out and ended up landing a couple of nice sized Jack Crevalle. Austin tied on a weight and casted it to a near by dock, while he was doing this he was telling me about how he was going to catch a Redfish. Soon after saying this he was on something, what seemed to be nice sized. It took him around a piling, so he told me to run and get the Kayak so he could go get it untangled. So I run to get the Kayak and when I get back and put it in the water, even before he pushed off the dock the fish comes loose, just my luck! Anyways, he finally gets the fish to the surface and it is none other than the illusive Sail Cat! After that incident, we knew that we should head in yet again. Another great day on the water!
Good luck,
Mitch
(Hopefully I'll have some pictures soon!)
