This past Saturday I had the privelege of being a part of a terrific learning experience at the Everglades Angler. Mark Ward, the E.A. owner, invited me to lend a hand helping to teach casting to the enthusiastic participants. I've attended more than a few fly fishing clinics, mostly inthe North Eastern New England area and I can say with all honesty that the E.A. Class is tops in my book. I've never participated in a more thorough, fact-filled clinic. Mark and head guide, Ken Chambers filled the day with slide shows, 3 casting sessions, lessons on gear selection, fly selection, tactics, where to fish, when to fish, tide info, Q and A sessions, and more stuff I wish now I'd written down. Plus, we had a great lunch to boot!
The real icker for me though, was to observe the genuine improvement that each caster made throughout the day. There were happy smiles all over the faces of the participants who added big time distance and accuracy to their casting. I could see the new confidence in their faces!
Here's a few pictures I took of this great experience; Sorry they are so small!
