Thanks to Diamond Dave I slipped into a kayak at 7 AM at the little launch at Clam Pass and Dave leading, we paddled towards the exposed flats several large fish showed to us, swirling their big wakes and sending fleeing baitfish airborn. Now that is a sight to see as you sip the fresh coffee from the holder between your legs, kick back and enjoy the bright morning.

We tied off the boats and stood near several points of flow, all perfect spots to observe Snook as they lay in wait for their breakfast.

I've seen some smooth operators with a fly rod, and Dave is among the most graceful casters I've seen. It wasn't long before he hooked up because he's been there before and knows just the retrieve speed that the fish like. Notice the arc of Dave's four-piece, now there's a sweet pull!

I came down her to Naples to learn all I can about good fishing, not only fly fishing, but all kinds of fishing. I know that every time I get to go with Diamond Dave (headrush999 to anyone who ties up here on this forum) we'll have a blast!

What a treat to watch, cast after cast...eighty feet with a single back cast, fly lands perfectly....Dave, thanks. We'll hit the Kennebec full force for sure next June, ...warm days like this one today aren't a guarentee, but if there are fish feeding, you'll be on them.
