Heading down to Naples from Ontario in a few days, just curios about what I might be able to catch casting flies from the beach. Also where abouts is this Carl Johnston Park this Marcel fella was talking about??

thanks. :D

I was also wondering what kind of fish are in the lake, I forget what the name of it was, it was in a large park where they have water skiing shows once a week. I caught some nice bass in there last year, and saw a big snook. A passerby told me the canal that runs behind it is good for snook, I gave it a try but had no luck.

you can catch some nice fish from the beach - i have caught huge jacks - best to get there early. as the sun comes up you can sometimes sight fish.

your best bet is to stop into everglades angler. mark and marshall will tell you exactly where to go and hook you up with some good flies/tackle.

i always go right to Everglades Angler before fishing - they always tell me where the fish are.

Ask them about fishing under the lights too - naples has some great night fishing under the lights if you can find good lights to fish - (jacks-snook-bluefish-tarpon....)

Thanks for joining the site! Snook should be scare on the beach but as jeremy said there could easily be some jacks. Carl Johnson Park is now called Lovers Key State Park and is located on Estero Bay.
Sugden Park is the place where they water ski. .I've never fished it but it looks pretty good. It's SE of Naples on the east trail (highway 41).
I look forward to seeing you. We have some info on our web page "Local Fishing Info" under the menu "Fishing"
Thanks again.

Thanks a lot Jac & Mark. Hopefully I'll be able to catch something off the beach, I just better make sure I'm not in a crowded area so I dont hook into any bathing suits or towels on my backcast. I usually fish shrimp off the pier with my spinning tackle and I've got some of those catfish and I've saw a black drum caught as well, I've also seen large schools of mackeral with some lady fish come in as well. Caught a shark in 03 :D I saw 2 snook caught off the pier in 03 as well.

Yeah Sugden park was the name, I want to get back there and do some fishing, it was a nice spot. We are staying in Lely so were not to far from some good ponds, I also want to try some of those canals I see along 41. :) I'll be by the shop next week. We leave tomorrow!
