Hey everybody, just wanted to tell a cool story
Last saturday when i was running along the beach I ran over some black shadows, and i knew they were some kind of fish. When i turned around i saw what must have been around 50 of the long silhouettes. I though maybe shark, but then one flashed its silver side. Once i established the fish were possibly tarpon my suspicions soon evaporated, as one of the fish broke the surface, rolling its side to me. Soon afterward(two seconds later) I had my rod in hand and was frantically casting at the 50-150 pound fish. However, they had very little interest in my comparatively tiny yo-zuri, and i gave up on the casting. My next effort was to get in the water with the silver kings. Because I was alone, I had to attempt to anchor the boat before i could dive in, lest the boat float away. At first i tried to stay away from the fish so i didnt spook them, but with my flats anchor a little short on line I would have needed to swim about 50 ft to get to the fish. This didnt work. After attempting to anchor in the near proximity of the fish several times, i got a little bold and decided to forget the anchor. Jumping in the water wearing my mask and holding a neon blue underwater camera, i held the side of the boat with one arm while shooting off pictures of the massive school with my other. Just being near these fish gave me a thrill you all know, but actually swimming with them was an experience i wont soon forget.
