The weather has gotten worse at the start of the weekend. The heavenly sluice gates opened and tons of water poured down on earth.
So conditions for flyfishing in a river where very bleak to say the least.

When we came at the river we heard the roaring water racing over the weir of the local watermill. A view from the bridge confirmed that the worst case scenario was in place. The river had risen at least 15 inches and was muddy. We where stupid enough to buy a day ticket anyway and waded through a minefield of dead timber and deep holes all invisible by the murky water.

From the three anglers out on this day I was the one with the most luck, I managed somehow to hook a nice small brown trout.

The muddy banks of the river claimed another victim today... it was me.
While climbing on a steep bank the mud caused me to slip and I made a very hard landing on the deck. My landingnet was broken but the rod and camera stayed in one piece. My fellow flyfisherman could not stop laughing though, at least some of us had fun.

It turned out to be the only fish of the day. We did our best but conditions where just against us. Just too much water and to murky for anything to hit. Only some very small feeder streams carried cleaner water. Those feeders where to small though to make a difference in the overall water color of the river.

Clean water from the feeders.

Tommorrow I am officialy member of the German fishing club. Today was my last visit as a non-member on their trout river stretch where guest anglers can buy day tickets to fish a mile or two. From tomorrow on I can fish the full length of the river. So tomorrow I am off again hoping that waterlevels will fall and fish will bite...

You are hardcore! The river looks nice if there was not so much water.
Thanks for the post from across the pond! Keep sending Pics.

Thanx, I hope you guys like a little trout fishing report now and then.

Some say we are hardcore (mostly other anglers), others say we are beyond any help. I like it that way.

It is troutfishingday nr. 2 today and the weatherguys are wrong again.
At this time (07:32 local) the sky is blue and the sun shines.
I guess the river will still be murky but with some luck water levels will have dropped and clarity will have improved. The locals say it takes three to four days to clear up so there should be a 33 percent improvement.
