Report Friday June 10, 2005
Southwest Florida's had approximately 6”-11” inches of rain since June 1st depending on what part of the area. The rainy season is definitely here. This has not put-off the fish between the rainy days.

Capt. Wayne Whidden had a great day on Tuesday. Fishing about 1 ½ miles off Cape Romano using live bait they caught sharks, king mackerel, snapper, grouper, blue fish and other species. He said in the morning it was like a lake out there. Wayne said farther out the water was very clear, maybe too clear and the bite wasn’t as good.

Capts. Kevin Merritt & Danny Fabian had a good morning Thursday. They fished Karl Zeller and his group from Pennsylvania. The caught numerous snook and redfish on fly and Danny’s boat caught snook, reds, grouper, trout and other species. Kevin said the bite quit right after the rain front went through.

Capt. Aron Blaisdell had a good day with long time Everglades Angler customer Tom Murphy. Tom caught his first tarpon on fly. Capt. Aron also fished Walter Tiburski recently. Aling with the redfish picturd they caught snook, trout and other saltwater species. Aron also fished off Estero Bay for tarpon early this week, they hooked 4 fish on artificials and two on fly….but none landed.

I took my son Dylan out the other day and we had fun with snook and sharks. A Dusky Shark and a beach snook. Good fishin’ Dylan.

Seems everybody is doing ok in SW Florida.
Seeing all those big fish being caught makes me wanna come down right away.

I will be on my way to the first saltwater flyfishing outing of this year. With any luck I will be wetting the line in the Ionian sea sundaymorning on the shores of the Isle of Corfu. From past expirience I know that fishing stinks down there but since this trip is a free ride it does not matter. Well, it does matter so I will be happy with one lizardfish during the week. I will be fishing the beach in Acharavi, north side of the Island.

Invited by my brother ... along with my parents.

It was a easy choice:

A - Work all week and cope with miserable cold wet summer weather and difficult customers.
B - Go on a walkabout on a sunny Greek Island and have the chance to fish and maybe catch an odd bluefish or barracuda.

This is my second trip in the last couple of weeks. I had the chance to go on another free ride to fish the Alpine region of Austria. Skipped that one because I still value my job.

It makes me wonder how Diamond Dave pulls it off to hop all over the place for fishing trips. Must be a IT guy thing (like Jeremy or do I have to call him Jaques down here)
