I visited Everglades Angler in the morning to check my e-mails and then headed off to Sugden park.
As usual I visited the docks at Crayton Cove first.
I peeked over the seawall and saw a bunch of yellow tails passing by.
Big Jacks where in the area so I quickly rigged the flyrod.
I retrieved an EP mullet along the seawall but go no hits.
Big Jacks tend to travel fast, real fast.
I tried fishing the pilings for stray Jacks or Snook.
A pretty strong breeze was blowing in from the bay making it difficult to place the fly precise to the pilings.
In the end I must have hit the right spot because a big Snook pounded the fly.
My biggest Snook till now.
The Snook turned out to be the biggest I had caught right now.
I was happy I visited the dock, a nice start of the day.
Next stop was lake Avalon or to put it precise the creek behind the lake.
Because I wanted to see what mystery fish species where in the creek I used a trout fishing technique by fishing a team of two crazy charlies.
At the creek I encountered my smallest Snook of this trip.
The new setup did good on bigger Snook and Mayan Cichlids as well.
Snook and Mayan Cichlid.
The Cichlids where responding well to the small flies.
I ended the day with 7 Mayans and four Snook from the creek.
I still find it amazing how any fish that small and shallow creek
yielded.
The Creek.
Near sunset I got nomore bites so I decided to fish the main lake
to see if fish where willing to hit flies.
The lake looked nice but unfortunately the fish where not in the biting mood.
I ended the day watching the sun go down on one of the fishing piers.
Sunset at Lake Avalon.
