Hey Guys, New to fly fishing I am interested in making my own tippets. Could you please tell me what length and size line you like to use for snook and redfish. Thanks Kyle

Hi Kyle,

Thanks for the visit. I like to use 9' leaders between 12-20lb test. Keep it easy. 3.5' of 30lb, 3' of 20lb and 2.5' of 16lb. On the end of the leader you'll need 12-18" of 40lb shock tippet or bite guard. Our snook have abrasive lips and sharp gill plate covers. The reds of rough mouths, the jacks have teeth etc.

Good luck and thanks
