I'll be in town the first week in Feb. I should have access to a kayak. Any recommendations? What will be biting? Any flies/techniques you would recommend? I've jumped a few tarpon, but never landed one. Also, never caught a redfish down there. Any shot at those when I'm in town. Also, I love catching BIG jacks on the fly. Grew up catching those in the canal behind my grandparents house, and though they are not glamorous, man are they fun. Any hot spots for those? I've had success at the end of Gordon's Pass on the rocks last year. Tight lines! [/b]
Clam Pass, Seminole State Park or the canal along 41 toward Miami can be good. There are frequently baby tarpon in the canoe basin at the park. Streamers and clousers. Try matching the water color and the size of the bait if you see any. Gordon Pass could have some jacks but it's not the best time of year to fish the beach.
