Started off the day with taking my cousins out along with my brother. It has been a while since I last fished the Sound. Went to a couple of flats that usually hold some decent trout with a couple reds mixed in. Got a few trout in the boat and then headed to a little cove that normally holds snook and reds. Right as we got there, I jumped a lower slot snook, about 25 or 26 in., that must have jumped 5 feet in the air. He spit the hook and we proceeded down the shoreline with no luck. Went back to some grass flats where we were able to catch a couple more
trout before we had to head in. Grabbed some food at the Lazy Flamingo in Bokeelia and put the boat back on the trailer.

Once we got home, I headed down to the beach behind our house where I saw all of this bait getting popped. I ran back to the house and grabbed the long rod..... waded out about 10 yards and started throwing into the bait that was getting popped. I felt a good thump, strip-striked, and the battle began. About 5 minutes later, I land this 26 in, 8 lb. red. He ate a tan and white EP minnow on a 1/0 hook

beautiful redfish. I bet that was a great battle. What did you throw into the bait?
