I am visiting naples in a couple of weeks and I want to fish Naples pier for the snook, redfish, blackdrum (or any thing that bites!). what rod, reel and tackle will I need?
Hey,
Thanks for the post. The Naples Pier has alot of bait around it now. For spin fishing 12-20lb test is good and use gold sabiki rigs to catch the thread herring, they are great baits. Fishing hanging around now are snook, pompamo and some speckled sea trout. Use a piece of 30-40lb leader as most of our fish have either teeth or abrasive lips and gill plate covers. Also jigs are an excellent way to produce fish. They cover alot of ground and work well. 1/4 oz. to 3/8 in pink, tan & brown. Experiment.
Feel free to respond with more questions or stop in the shop when your in town and we'll try to steer you in the right direction. Sorry for the late reply. I was out of town.
