Snook Tips?

Im what you would call a beginner. Im planning on fishing Clam Pass, preferably for Snook. Any general tips on how to catch them, such as bait, hot spots, tackle, etc.?

Hi Michael, Thanks for the post. Clam Pass does have some snook. The mouth, corners and shorlines can all hold fish. Live bait works the best including shrimp and shiners assunimg you have a cast net and the shiners are around. Also jigs, plugs and spoons can all work. I love top water plugs as you can see the snook hit the bait. A moving tide is best and the lower tides will concentrate the fish more. Look for birds working the shorlines because they eat the same food as the snook. You may also see splashes along the shorlines which will probably be snook bustin' bait. Think like a snook underwater looking to feed and remember they like moving water and I like outgoing tides this time of year.

Thank you for your tips. I used live shrimp. It worked out great!. I caught 7 snook, 3 snapper, 2 grouper, and 2 sheepshead.
