Hey Bruce,
I was fishing on an open shore with no mangroves at my grand parents beach house. My dad helped build it when he was a teen. The best thing about the beach house is that it is directly across the street from Whites (a bait and takle store). This all happened up in Melborne.
I was fishing from shore when my rod tip went down so i jolted up from my beach chair and set the hook. The fish fought hard and strong. Hard like a Bluefish, but it didn't jump, and strong like a Jack, But it ate the hook and didn't take much line.I landed the fish. It had a tail like a Butterfly fish. The color was a whitesh gray. Sort of like a whiting. the fish waid 1 or 2 pounds. I serched the internet for 10 or 20 minutes, but didn't find anything. So i was hopping you could tell me.
I asked my dad who had been fishing up there for a while even before the beach hous was built when he lived in Miami. He would go up there and stay in a hotel. but he said he never cought anything that looked like that.
