I have fished with a baitcasters for 30 years. my son sent me a spinning reel. How do you throw it & control the cast?

Good Question. Most use a finger to stop the line but I prefer taking my left hand above the spool during the cast and slowing the line as I close the bail. Hope you can figure that out by my explanation. Good luck
