A cold front passed through Southwest Florida last night and is expected to linger though tomorrow. This has made for challenging fishing. A few small snook and trout have been caught along with lady fish and jacks.
The return of warmer weather as the weekend approaches should turn the bite back on and provide a good opportunity for catching snook and redfish in the back bays and trout on the grass beds. Low mid day tides should make the afternon better for fly fishing on the rising tide.
The shop is fully stocked with a fresh new shipment of flies. Enrico Puglisis flies work great. The EP's are all tied on Gamakatsu hooks, are durable, easy to throw, look real in the water and catch fish. The EP Perfect Minnow sz. #2 is a great fly this time of year available in black & purple, lt. olive, grey and tan/wht. The EP Mullet sz. 2/0 is also excellent in white, black & purple and dk grey & white. In addition the micro minnow sz #2 is excellent when matching the hatch so to speak for glass minnows. Many of our flies now come with weed guards, not so much for weeds but for mangrove roots.
