Captain Kevin Merritt reports that the recent south winds and rain have dirtied up the water in the back country somewhat, but that sight fishing for snook and redfish is still decent.
The snook and redfish are in the back and middle bays. They are spooky, so stealth and accurate casts are essential.
Trout and pompano on the outside points are providing the best opportunities right now and being taken on small jigs and black EP slider flies.
The first larger tarpon of the year are showing up, but they are difficult to catch right now and are unwilling to take flies. Live and cut bait is the way to go now.
