I have a trip booked with Capt. Merritt. I know he supplies fly rods and I will probably use his just to cut down on stuff in the boat.

I plan to bring two 8 weights with me for fishing spots along the beach or other wadeable places during the rest of my stay.

My question is this, I have both 10wt and 11wt rods used for false albacore, big stripers etc. Is there any point in bringing those with me for the wading or would chances at tarpon be pretty slim from the shore?

Tarpon are usually not catchable from the beach but I have seen them in the Fall up aginst the shore feeding on the massive amounts of bait. I would stick to the 8wt. Perfect for Snook and Jacks

Good Luck
