I had the pleasure once again to fish with long time friends and clients Walt and Justin Tiburski. They also brought along a first time angler Douglas,"DR" Elliott. What I love about fishing with the Tiburski's is that they have fun catching anything. No matter what the day brings they enjoy it for what it is.
Today was a great day. I started the day going offshore to net some live bait. We hauled it in to fish the outside Island on a high incoming tide. The outside points are my favorite spots to fish and this time of year it can really be good. No need to worry about the mangroves, just long casts on wide open flats.
The first spot of the morning "DR" had the hot rod. He pulled in several nice Snook before anyone else had a hit. The Second spot was even better. Justin started in with a nice Trout and several more that they decided to keep for dinner. DR also caught a bunch of nice Snook at this spot along with Walt pulling in a few with some nice jacks mixed in. We fished 2 more spots with consistent action at both. The highlight of the day was when Walt was reeling in his bait to recast when a monster Tarpon slammed it at the boat in 2 feet of water. After a brief battle and the big Silver King getting air born, the hooked pulled.
The fishing is great now and we hardly saw another boat all morning.
I highly recommend getting on the water now
