In the afternoon of the 9th I headed to Gordon pass in the hope to meet a nice Jack Crevalle or Snook.
Beach at Gordon pass.
I fished the jetty's on the way to the pass but I did not encounter any predatory fish, even the bait was scarce.
On the last stretch near Gordon I did see several Snook patrolling the shallows but I only managed to scare them.
Low tide is not exactly the best time to fish the beach since the profile of the beach is steeper at high tide making fish less wary.
When I finally saw baifish jumping I waded into the Gulf and soon was catching one Ladyfish after another,
Since the Ladyfish where destroying my fancy flies in rapid order I tied on a cork popper hoping it would survive the onslaught longer,
Ladyfish on popper.
Even the popper did not survive the attacks without marks but at least I saved a bunch of flies.
The only other fisherman at the pass was an Englishman fishing with plugs.
He did encounter the Snook and I saw a nice bend in his rod, the Snook came off though so no luck for him either.
When he yelled that two alligators where floating out with the tide my wading session was over, you never know where those lizards where heading for.
Gordon pass.
So I fished the inside of the pass from the rocks untill sunset but only caught more ladyfish.
Finally the bugs came out in force and I called it a day,
Sunset at Gordon pass.
