Yesterday I spent another afternoon at Gordon pass.
While checking e-mail and posting reports at the local Orvis shop in Naples I met a fellow flyfisherman from Texas.
I came across the same flyfisherman later on the beach.
Pelicans
As we walked along the beach I showed my fellow flyfisherman what I found to be the best spots at the beach.
We came across two Snook patrolling the beach and my companion tried his best to catch them.
As usual the Snook where not willing to cooperate and just left the scene.
When we where at the end of the beach we came across a school of Jack Crevalle and off course these fish where targetted immediately.
The first cast was immediately rewarded with a take but unfortunately the hook came out quickly.
The man from Texas had limited time to fish so he had to leave soon, before he left he handed me a couple of clousers to fish with.
Gordon pass at high tide.
I fished at one of the jetty's with a pink/white clouser when I hooked a large fish.
The line left the reel at great speed so I suspected I had hooked into a large Jack Crevalle.
After 10 minutes I had the Jack close to the beach and thought I had him, then the hook came out - bend out...
I decided to continue fishing with the Texas clousers and fished the beachside of the jetty at the inlet.
It did not take long before I hooked into a Snook.
Snook on clouser minnow
There where quite some schools of mullet underway along the beach so maybe we can expect some more predators soon.
There where some Jack Crevalle's roaming the seawalls but I only managed to catch a small one.
The sunset fell more or less in the water since there where many clouds on the horizon.
Sunset.
At sunset the Ladyfish where present again.
When the light faded I tied on another gurgler to see if the strikes I had on a previous occasion where not incidental.
Ladyfish
After sunset the only light was coming from the moon.
Still the ladyfish where active and at times the gurgler was attacked.
I managed to catch a few more ladyfish before I called it a day.
