At last I have hooked into some nice Jack Crevalles.
When fishing Gordon pass at sunset I had quite a battle with a large Jack
that decided to inhale a gurgler fished close to the jetty.

My largest Jack during this trip.

I managed to land the Jack but also managed to turn my four piece Orvis Trident TL
into an eight piece rod.
Fortunately the Orvis guys decided I could get a T3 as replacement for my broken rod since I am leaving for Europe pretty soon.

Last Saturday the skies opened in Naples and it was raining cats and dogs.
I still went to the beach and had one of my best days during my vacation down here.
The Jacks where thick on the beach and I managed to catch quite a few of them.
Another interesting fact was that I hooked into two Bluefish during that rainy day.
It was too bad that both bluefish managed to sever my 30lbs shock tippet.

My friend Marshall from Maine has just returned from the North so I have been on a few dawn beach patrols with him in search of Snook.
There where almost no Snook about when we hit the beach but maybe that will change after the next coldfront

I have been with Marshall and Diamond Dave to what they call the trail down here.
It was my first trip to the divide of the Everglades and the 10K Islands.
There where rolling Tarpon in the canals and they where actually eating, to bad that our flies where left untouched.
Still it was a very worthwhile trip seeing all the wildlife and different fish species in the canals.
I had some hits on the streamer most likely from a Snook, Gar or one of the Cichlids in the canal.

I fished the beach yesterday again but things where slow during the morning hours.
When finally a school of Ladyfish came in I started catching one fish after another.
I returned at sunset to the beach and watched the sunset cruises as they went out for yet
another cancelled sunset since it has been so rainy lately.

Next wednesday I will be back on my way to Europe so this is most likely my last fishing report out of Naples FL for this year.
As usual I have enjoyed this trip very much allthough the fishing could have been better.

Dolphin in Gordon pass.

I will miss the beach, the palmtrees, dolphins, ospreys and all that goes with this tropical fishing but then again I am looking forward to the pikefishing back home.
