So, just got back home from a nice little time off in Naples. I fished locally around Clam Bay/Pass catching mainly snook, jacks and nice reds, playing the tides. Also caught a bunch of beach snook and even a needlefish, which is a first!! I also hooked up with my friend Chris Gillespie and made arrangements to go fishing. I drove up to his house in Ft. Myers and we went on to Punta Rassa where we launched. We headed towards Ding Darling and fished top water for an hour or so. We hit a few nice snook, a little jewfish, a small barracuda (weird), and tons of redfish (a few double hookups). Then we headed out to the sound since it was getting cloudy and we wanted to get to other places. We found a spot where we would load up on ladyfish and continue on to fish. We caught the required ladyfish and even a couple of nice trout (one, almost 9 lbs). I also hooked up a catfish on a jig!!!!
It got a bit rainy just east of South Seas Plantation so we decided to get back and chill in the mangroves for a while. We found a nice shallow and narrow cut, about 5ft deep, and we hooked a few nice snook on jigs.
Hope to be back soon.
