I knew I was going to have a few hours to kill the morning of Dec. 31st, so I headed to Naples Beach. I usually park at 33rd St. and walk south to Gordon's pass. I had heard the water was warm and clear, so I was hoping to spot some snook, and I did. I had about half a dozen good shots at snook feeding in the wash really close to shore. Didn't see as many as I have on past trips down there, but the ones I saw were decent sized (I'd say around 28"+ on all of them). I had a number of them track my fly, and two hits. One cut my leader on his gill plate as soon as he turned, and the other one missed my fly (or I got anguish and stripped it out of his mouth  ). Small EP minnows seemed to do the trick. I did manage to catch some ladyfish and a small jack blind casting off the rocks. With the cooler, windy weather, blowing in on the 1st, I didn't bother going back out the the beach the rest of my trip, but was pleasantly surprised to see that many snook out there in December!
