Is there any advice for hooking anything other than snook from the beach or jetty at Gordans Pass. Have landed snook, sp. macks & yellowtail snappers. Info on how to use the tides (timing) would be appreciated. Will only be in area for a couple of days. What about the bulkheads just north of the jetty? :?:

I'll be in the same area in about 10 days and would love any advice about fishing the neighborhood. I'm used to striper fishing (from the surf) in NJ :D
I had very little luck when I was down last year  as it was quite chilly (in the 40's at night).

Had luck with deceivers in lt. gray over white with flash in the body (sp. mack), ladyfish, yellowtail + snook & gray over white clousers for snook by the pilings in the surf & rocks (jetty). Same techniques for stripers. Looking for jacks & much bigger snook. :?

Fishing from the beach can be tough In February. I Suggest flies that work the deeper water column like Clousers. I like Red and White. Pompano, Sea Trout, Sheephead ,Mackerel, lady fish and Jacks Will be the main targets. Try walking the beach and focus on baitfish or Surface activity. I prefer The High tide if you have a choice. The Rock pile on the North Side of Gordon's Pass has a nice drop off that always has some nice moving water. Give that a try and good luck. If you need some more tips and advice Let me know

I'm not a fly fisherman, but do surf fish often at home.
Any suggestions as to size of lures, hooks, or bait :?:

Hi buzz26, Jigs and spoon s are a good way to catch fish plus cover alot of territory. For jigs use 1/4 or 3/8 oz head and the gulp products work well with the built in smell. The shad and shrimp patterns are good. For spoons either gold or silver although I prefer silver in 1/4-1/2 oz. I've used one recently with a built in swivel althugh not sure the name. For plugs the bomber long A is good in chartreuse and red/ white and silver. The weather has been warm and the water, as of today is very clear along the beach especilly a high tide which all makes for good fishing.
Stop in the shop and say hi. Good luck!
