I'll be in town and I hope to get out and do some fly fishing. Any input would be appreciated. I will tie a few flies for the trip and pick some up too. I have never fished the salt but fish the great lakes region for everything that swims.
I will be happy to catch what I can whether it be snook, blue fish tarpon, sea trout....etc...etc......
What should I expect to be most likely to catch and what weight rod should I bring? Should I go with a clear tip salt water fly line? How about a fly selection to include sizes?

Hi,
8 wts are the norm but you can go either way. For flies the EP flies work well. The mullet, perfect minnow and bay anchovy patterns all work. Black/purple, white/tan, green/white are good. Also the swamp rabbit flies are good in grey and black/purple. Try clam pass in north naples, the beach if it's calm and the canal along high 42 south can be good for baby tarpon, snook, bass and gar. Check out this link for more info.

Also remember to tie a piece of shock tippet (bite guard) on the end of your leader. We have excellent custom ties leaders at the shop that are made for fishing arouing here and have the shock on the end.
Good luck!

Hello Fishigan,

I will also be in Naples that week. I would be interested in meeting up and spliting the cost on a charter or just fishing. I have been going down there for my spring break for a couple years and looking forward to getting back into some of those snook. I live in Grand Rapids and and also fish for just about everything. Let me know if you have any interest.

Pete

Would anyone be interested in spliting a guide for a day on the 7th 8th or 9th of April? If Mark has one available. I'll even let ya try out the new reel I'll be using. I can do a full or a half do either way works for me.
