Capt. Ken Chambers reports:

Fishing has been up and down recently. Finding waters to fish out of the
wind has been my key. It seems like there are a handful of shorelines that have clean water. When we get good tides, we are catching snook and redfish on fly.

Baitfish still seem to be mostly found offshore. The backcountry fishing
still is not as good as it should be and the lack of bait inshore is the
culprit.

The mid morning low tides we'll have this week will be good for fly fishing and increase the sight fishing opportunities.

The mid afternoon high tides will make the beach snook fishing optimal with strong falling tides in the late afternoon making the pass and mangrove fishing excellent.

If these winds ever subside, the fishing should be as good as advertised for early summer. With fewer boats on the water this time of year, the fishing is only going to get better the next few weeks.

As always as we get to into summer first light can be agreat time to catch fish and be on the water as long as the tide is moving.

Tight lines - Capt. Ken Chambers
