The fishing the past few days has been very good. The white bait and pilchards are starting to show along the beaches and the islands south of Marco. Tarpon are off the beaches and in the passes. Early in the day is better as long as the tide is moving. Live bait including pin fish, pilchards, thread herring and crabs all work.
The snook are thick along the beaches and the water is as clear as it gets. They can be spooky so lead them if your fly fishing. I like to present the fly well in front of them and then move it as they approach. The EP Crystal Minnow works well as does the Micro Minnows. These flies are small but the closely resemble the bait. A higher tide is best as it brings the snook in closer as the water is deeper quicker when it a higher tide.
Redfish are fairly prevelant in the bays. Shrimp and live bait is working. For flies the EP Black & Purple mullet is working as is the Everglades Special. The incoming tide seems to be best of late.
