Went out this morning with Michael and Joop to visit our troutstream in Germany.
We explored a new part of the river on this day.
We parked at one of the bridges over the river and wandered through thick shrubs to the stream.
Michael was fishing upstream from me and pointed to a rainbow trout that he could not get with nymphs. I lauched a streamer towards the fish and got an immediate take. I missed it though as I did on cast two and three. After that the trout went down. In front of me Michael was progressing upstream. I could not see him but I could hear a loud splash. While fighting a rainbow he slipped and went for a brief swimming session in the drink.
Micheal still holding on to the rainbow after his unvoluntary swim.
Michael signed off for the day to get asap dry gear. I continued to move upstream untill I saw a rising fishing in a deep pool. The rise looked like a trout so I casted a streamer in the general direction of the disturbance. It was an instant hit but to my surprise the fish was not a trout. It turned out to be my first little pike of the season.
Small pike on a streamer.
As I walked upstream I fished in several deep pools and got some hits from trout. I missed most takes though. It was a jungle outthere with almost no room to cast.
In the Jungle.
In the afternoon we took a lunchbreak and decided to fish downstream in the afternoon.
Joop had to fish a pool first though, he was convinced a trout was hiding in the pool somewhere.
Joop in the Jungle.
As I walked downstream the jungle got thicker by the minute. At a fallen tree over the river I had some good hits on the streamer though. Missed a trout twice.
Good trout hiding place, difficult to cast though.
With some luck I managed to catch two browns. One of the streamer and one while nymphfishing

After tossing heavy streamers I deicided to cut back and give nymphing a try.
On my way back to the bridge I managed to catch two Dace (shiners) on a gold bead pheastant tail nymph.
Dace.
In the afternoon we called it a day and went home. I had one jack pike, two browns and two dace while Joop had three rainbows and a dace.
Michael managed one rainbow before he went swimming. Fish began to rise as we left. The weather improvement promised for today came a bit late.
We had fun again in the great outdoors.
