The fishing has been very good of late. Tarpon are in the passes at daybreak, snook, redfish, mackerel, pompano and snapper are biting and shark fishing is great.

I've been doing the summer first light tarpon trips. Been leaving the shop (Naples) at 5:15am and running south along Keewaydin Island to the tarpon spot. The 25 minute run south is probably my favorite part of the day. The early morning thunderstorms off the beach are beautiful with the rising sun. A great time of day.

I Fished Frank Visconti and his son Cole the other day. Tarpon weren’t biting at daybreak so we headed down to Gullivan Bay for some shark fishing. We’ve been chumming with catfish and using a half a cat for bait. It didn’t take long. Frank hooked about a 120lb Lemon Shark. After about 45 minutes the handle on the reel broke so we let the fish get away from the boat then Franks son Cole drove toward the fish while we cut the line and tied it to another rod. Nice driving Cole!
