I had a trip scheduled two days ago and questioned myself if I should have cancelled. I met Randy at the dock at 8am and it was in the high 40's. Cold for SW Florida. He said, "I could have fished on another day".

It was clear blue ski morning and I knew it would warm into the lower 70's. After fishing three spots we no luck throwing jigs and shrimp I said
" I would be happy to re-schedule today for another day". He said he was enjoying being out and if we had a chance let's keep fishing so...we headed to Hurricane Pass and threw jigs, I hooked one of the biggest ladyfish I've ever seen plus we caught a small snook, trout and more ladyfish. We moved to another spot looking for Pompano but found the ladyfish in large numbers. Fished another spot and caught more trout, sheepshead and snapper. Things were picking up and the weather warmed.

After the morning was over we had caught 7 species and had some good action. We didn't catch many of our target snook and reds but a beautiful morning with lots of action.

This weekend we have good tides with high tides at sunrise with falling water until early afternoon. The cooler weather we’ve had combined with low mid day water has improved our sight fishing. The cool temperatures knock the algae out of the water and in some spots the water is clear.

Next week the tides are also good with the arrival of the full moon Fri. Dec. 12. This will bring very low tides in the early am but nice incoming water all morning and into the afternoon later in the week. Also, weather calls for mid 70’s all week and mostly to partly cloudy. Excellent winter fishing weather.

If you’d like to talk fishin’ or book a trip give me a call on my cell at 239-450-9230 or office at 239-262-8228.

Tight lines.
