I am trying to find out a little info on what fly reel to get for some redfish fishing. It's for a friend. I fish florida a week a year and use a Solitude reel. It can handle saltwater usage but is not a true saltwater reel. I also am sponsored by them and sell them so my opinion would be biased. This friend fishes in Louisiana for a couple of weeks every year. He lives in Michigan. What reels would be good? Nothing over $300. I was trying to give him a good idea of some reels running from 100 to 300. He'll uses an 8wt rod for the reds.
Thanks for any input.
Fred

I like the Scientific Anglers System 2 reel, I have two model 1011 and extra spools for sink lines. they hold lots of backing, have a smooth drag
and only cost around $150.00. Extra spool $65.00 at Flydepot.com in Chiago, they ship free on orders over $150.00. will also install 30# backing if you buy a flyline. I have them on 8wgt rods. bwo20
