This fun little guy took an E.P. Peanut Butter Minnow on a slow incoming tide on 6-15-04 at around 10:30 AM...

So what are your favourite EP minnow colors ?

I liked the olive/white, pinfish and black/purple ones.

I would have to say that for tarpon, the purple and black and the brown and orange seem to work the best, and for snook, the pinfish, the white and yellow, and the all white have all produced consistantly for me.

I like to match the color of the fly to the color of the water. Dark, or dirty water- dark fly. Clear, clean water light color fly. The clean, clear water will usually force you to use a smaller fly as well...

I have used the black/purple EP also on the beach and to my amazement they performed well in the clear water. Down here I have used the black/purple ones with succses while fishing the Kolding fjord in Denmark. Also clear water but I was fishing at night, the cod loved the pattern.

Maybe I should get a couple of small ones so I can try them in the local stream. The trout there seem to be very fond of small black streamers. I assume that is caused by a certain species of small fish who live on the stones in the stream, they are very dark in coloration.

Do you guys ever take the time to ty EP minnows yourselves ?
I have only once seen a website where a complete tying instruction was displayed. I guess you have the take training at the local barber to learn how to trim those EP fibers into shape.
