Today we made a short session over the border. We had hoped for more water due to the rain that fell the last couple of days. Unfortunately all the rain did was stain the water. Levels are still very low. Insect activity was low and the fish where wary. Not even the shiners where showing themselves. At the end of the day I managed to hook two brown trout on the goldbead nymph.
First brown of the day. After several missed hits of shiners I tried the edge of the deep pool I was fishing in.
A brown nailed the goldbead nymph after it passed by several times.
My fishingbuddy Joop managed one rainbow.

All our usual haunts turned out to be fishless. We drove around quite a distance to get our fish.
The usual haunts, pretty but empty.
My last fish of the day was caught on sight. I was fishing a deep pool where Joop had fished just before me. When Joop walked downstream he said he got three bites and missed them all. Since we where about to go home I decided not to seek out any deep holes far downstream. Instead I gambled that the fish in Joop's pool would still be interested in some flies. When I came near I saw a trout hovering upstream from the deep hole on a sandbar.
The sandbar upstream from the deep pool.
The first cast with a goldbead nymph was out of range for the trout.
Luckily the trout ignored everything and remained on position.
On the second cast the strikeindicator passed close by the trout. He did not bother. When the nymph came by however the fish turned and went for it. Fish nr. 2 of the day was a fact.
Fish nr. 2
I really love this sight fishing. Can't wait for my visit to Florida this fall. Maybe I get the chance to throw some more flies at the beach Snook.
