Hey Cab- I have been fishing out of Naples, and bait has been up and down. When the sun is up, there have been threads around and have fallen for the sabiki rig pretty well. If you are going to throw a net, they have been tough unless you have an extremely heavy custon net with 1/2" mesh. I walked almost a mile on keewaydin last night looking for pilchards with no luck on a low tide. There have been nice baits on the beach a high tide though. The Gordon pass head pin, and the Marco head pin have all had threads on top and nice pilchards underneath them. The top of the tide seems to be a little more productive for the bait in general. I hope that this helps-it's funny how the bait thing works. When the tide is perfect for the fishing, bait is hard to come by, and when it isn't a great tide, you can get more bait than you need- go figure :?:
