Today fishing with new client Michael Hirtz from Tallahasse, Fl wanted to land a few snook. He only able to catch Reds and Trout in the shallows where he fishes. Snook in the summer is not a problem neither are Redfish and Tarpon. Armed with a Hank Brown Weedless Jig in tan and a Mirro Lure CatchJr. (Chartreuse) the only color needed. Started out with the CatchJr. hooking 20lb Tarpon and having fun with them. Then move to Snook as the tides was falling, caught some of them. Tide was low in the middle of the day, perfect sightfishing Redfish in shallows, caught some of them, even tailing. Hank Brown Weedless jig in tan color, never lets me down. With the tide moving back in we ventured into some back bays for more snook on topwater. The incomming tide, heat of the day, Michael wacks a 20 pounder and three others on the same shoreline while sightfishing. We call the day a success at 3:00pm and head for the dock.
Wow! It sounds like you guys smoked em! Those Hank Brown Hook Up jigs are incredible- They are built very well, and use the best components available. When they are in the water, they look like a tender little morsel that fish just can't resist. I have had good luck with the 1/8 oz calf tail jig in white or tan for the snook on the beach. Thanks for the report Al, and keep it up!
